Plasencia Cosecha 146 La Vega
Unlike wine, cigar smokers aren’t often treated to vintage-specific blends. Region or farm specific? Occasionally. But the Plasencias gave us the Cosecha 146, a brand that is purported to contain tobacco only from the 2011-2012 crops.
All of the tobaccos in Cosecha 146 are from Criollo ’98 seeds. The wrapper comes from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras, the binder from Estelí, Nicaragua. The fillers are from Nicaragua (Condega) and Honduras (Olancho and Jamastran). By the Plasencias’ calculations, they gave us the best of a banner vintage from two countries. Judging by La Vega’s tasty balance of tea, citrus, earth and caramel, we have no reason to doubt them.
