For the first time in the fairly short history of the Dominican Cohiba Spectre line, this year’s Toro will come in a Brazilian wrapper that brand owner General Cigar Co. says was harvested in 2008. In addition to the vintage wrapper, the box has been made with a hydraulic press system that dramatically elevates the tubed cigars. This all amounts to a cigar that will retail for nearly $130.

The limited-edition Cohiba Spectre 2022 Toro (the concept was developed last year) is the fourth release under the Cohiba Spectre series, a line of cigars known for intricate packaging and high price tags. The original Cohiba Spectre was introduced in 2018 and retailed for $90, which, at the time, was the most expensive Cohiba from General to date, and one of the priciest cigars on the entire market. Subsequent releases saw a rise in price, and changing blends, as each Spectre is made with a different variety of tobaccos.

At 6 inches long by 52 ring gauge, this year’s Toro consists of a Brazilian wrapper and hybrid binder grown in the Dominican Republic from a cross of Pelo d’Oro and Connecticut seeds. Underneath is a filler of Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco. It’s made in the Dominican Republic at the General Cigar Dominicana factory and is billed as a medium-to-full-bodied smoke.

To add some theater to the package, General created a hydraulic system that gently elevates all 10 cigars once you press the red dot in the “O” of Cohiba’s branded logo on the box. Each cigar comes in its own humidified tube.

The cigars should reach retailers by mid-March, and will have a suggested retail price of $129.99 each, or $1,299 for a box. Only 600 boxes are being produced.

Update: This article was edited after General Cigar issued a correction concerning the Spectre's binder and its branding.
