Michael Jordan is the king of the basketball court, a six-time NBA champion who has been called the world’s most popular athlete. The way he played electrified the game and earned him fans around the globe, and his business acumen turned him into one of the sporting world’s few billionaires.
His long-awaited documentary, “The Last Dance,” takes the viewer behind the scenes as he and the Chicago Bulls win their last championship. The 10-part-series pulled in record numbers, with each episode attracting around 16 million viewers on ESPN alone. Millions more watched the show on ABC and on Netflix—but there’s far more to the Jordan story.
In the summer of 2017, I sat down with Jordan at the Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida, for a rare one-on-one interview. We lit up Hoyo de Monterrey Double Coronas (for starters), turned on the cameras and started chatting. We spoke about life, Cuba, golf, family, what it takes to be a winner and so much more. Highlights became the cover story for our December 2017 issue, and short video clips from the conversation have received more than 2.3 million views. You may have seen them, and read the story, but no one has seen the entire conversation—until now.
On Thursday July 30 at 7 p.m., we will launch the world premiere of the entire 58-minute Michael Jordan interview on cigaraficionado.com. Come watch and get a previously unseen, candid look at one of the world’s most interesting personalities, and a man who really loves a good cigar.
