Cigar Aficionado

The September 6 broadcast of the hit television show “CBS Sunday Morning” closed with host Jane Pauley speaking about Cigar Aficionado magazine. On screen was the May/June issue of Cigar Aficionado, with the words “The Best Damn Show on Television” emblazoned on the cover. The magazine on screen then flipped open to show the cover story by managing editor Gregory Mottola.

“We were touched by a recent article in the magazine Cigar Aficionado, calling us ‘the greatest show on television. A program that always seems to lift us up, rather than tear things down,’ ” Pauley said.

The camera came back to Pauley, sitting in the familiar studio, decorated by various images of suns. “Wow, we thank you for that. We certainly try.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that Cigar Aficionado has appeared on the show. In 2015, “CBS Sunday Morning” interviewed executive editor David Savona during the 17th Habanos Festival in Cuba.

Some five million viewers watch “CBS Sunday Morning” every week. The show has been aired since 1979—41 years.
