An Oliva Corona Made Just For Charity

Oliva Cigar Co. will be releasing a new corona this month and a significant portion of the proceeds is going to charity. Created to benefit the Helping Hands Foundation, an organization started by Oliva in 2021 to benefit the poor families of Nicaragua, the new cigar comes in white, six-count boxes with a suggested retail price of $75 per box.
The cigar is aptly called the Oliva Limited Edition Helping Hands Foundation Corona and measures 6 inches by 46 ring gauge. Oliva says that the blend is a variation of that found in the Oliva Serie V Melanio, though slightly lighter in body. All the filler is Nicaraguan. The wrapper and binder are both from Ecuador, with the binder from Habano seed and the wrapper being grown from Sumatra seed. The wrapper is taken from a lower portion of the tobacco plant, giving it a lighter color and body than wrappers on Melanios. Like all Oliva cigars, the Coronas are made by hand in Nicaragua at Oliva’s Tabolisa factory.
According to the company, the cigars were rolled three months ago and are scheduled to debut on December 15 at the Casa de Montecristo in Boca Raton, Florida at a fundraising event. After that, the Coronas will launch nationally.
