La Flor Dominicana Cigars
The Gomez family behind La Flor Dominicana cigars began making cigars in 1994 in a tiny facility in the Dominican Republic. Back then the name was Los Libertadores, but it was soon changed to La Flor Dominicana. The cigars began as mild smokes but have evolved considerably over the years, with the addition of several bold new iterations, many of them powered by tobacco leaves grown on a farm the Gomez’s run in La Canela. The La Flor Dominicana history has been one of innovation, particularly in sizes. Shapes such as The Chisel, with its distinctive wedge-shaped head, and the El Jocko Perfecto, which looks like a bowling pin, have enamored cigar smokers. Today, the company owns a modern and impressive cigar factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic, and the company’s La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull was named Cigar of the Year for 2016.
