Macanudo

DISTRIBUTOR: General Cigar Co.

When the General Cigar Co. acquired the Temple Hall Factory, located in Jamaica, in 1969, it included a then-unknown brand named Macanudo, destined to become the best-selling premium cigar in the United States for many years. Back then, Macanudos were rolled with some Jamaican tobacco and was under the tutelage of cigar legend Ramón Cifuentes. Today, consumers know the core Macanudo brand as a mild-bodied cigar covered in Connecticut shade wrapper. Through the years, General has capitalized on the Macanudo brand by coming out with offshoot lines that are more medium- to- full-bodied.
