The brand was created in 1987 as a tribute to the company's founder, Eduardo León Jimenes. The cigar had a Cameroon wrapper, said Jose Blanco, director of sales for La Aurora, but not long after the launch, supply of the West African leaf became so scarce that the company had to switch to Connecticut shade.
One thousand boxes of robustos will be available at the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America convention in July.
