Come September, you might see a jet-black Mercedes Sprinter 2500EXT parked in front of your local tobacconist with the Zino Platinum emblem gracing the grill. It isn’t a new model of Mercedes, but the concept behind the Zino Platinum mobile lounge, a luxury-appointed branded van put on the road to celebrate the Platinum’s 10 year anniversary.
Designed in conjunction with BLVD Customs, based in St. Petersburg, Florida, the mobile lounge is a rolling man-cave of technological toys and includes three iPads, four 40-inch LCD televisions, a Sony Playstation 3, Apple TV, DirectTV, a BlueRay player and an audio system. Six captain’s chairs allow you to enjoy the amenities in comfort while you puff on Zino Platinum Crown, Scepter and Z-Class series cigars, all of which are stocked in the cargo van’s humidors.
“The mobile lounge will transform the industry’s definition of brand experience,” promises Richard Krutick, head of marketing for Davidoff of Geneva’s U.S. division. When the Mercedes is stationary, it can unfurl two outdoor tailgate areas that create instant smoking ambiance with a retractable awning and outdoor surround sound audio system. When it’s ready to roll, the van takes off on its 20 inch, one-of-a-kind Asanti wheels and Nitto Dura Grappler tires.
The tour begins at the tail end of the summer, September 8 at Draper’s Bethesda shop in Bethesda, Maryland. It will cover 21 different tobacconists, ending on December 13 at Angry Moon Cigars in Palm Beach Florida. Zino Platinum cigars are made in the Dominican Republic and owned by Swiss-based Davidoff of Geneva.
