Villiger La Libertad Gets New Look

One of Villiger’s lesser-known brands is getting a new look. The maker of Cigar Aficionado’s No. 15 Cigar of 2018 has updated the band on its La Libertad cigar line to incorporate the Villiger premium cigars logo. The change brings La Libertad closer in style to Villiger’s other premium brands, adding cohesiveness to the portfolio.
“We are happy that this high-rated brand will now be properly represented as a Villiger brand,” said Villiger North America president Rene Castañeda.
La Libertad is a Dominican-made cigar that launched in the United States in 2010. Villiger first updated the packaging on La Libertad in 2017, adding a large “Villiger” logo to the box for better brand awareness, but the original band remained. Now, the Villiger name is incorporated on both band and box.
La Libertad comes packaged in 20-count boxes and is available in four sizes: Robusto, at 5 inches by 52 ring; Torpedo Box Pressed; 5 1/2 by 52; Churchill, 6 1/2 by 50 and Masivo, 6 by 60.
Though the band of La Libertad has been updated, the cigar’s tobacco blend remains the same. The newly-banded La Libertads start shipping to retailers next week.
