The Digger from La Flor Dominicana

Aug 30, 2011 | By David Savona
The Digger from La Flor Dominicana

Imagine you're in a dark alley, smoking a cigar. You're approached by a mugger. What do you do? If you're smoking the new La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero The Digger, you have the option of taking the cigar from your mouth and using it to club your attacker into submission.

We joke, of course, but if the Digger isn't big enough to knock a person out, it's certainly larger than just about any other cigar you've seen. It measures 8 1/2 inches long with a 60 ring gauge, which is simply huge.

Cigarmaker Litto Gomez, known for his power smokes, makes the Digger in two varieties, one with an Ecuadoran wrapper and a maduro with a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. Both are strong. They're certainly not for everyone (such a big cigar can be very hard to smoke) but some people love them.

They've been a hit since their initial release in April and response at the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailer trade show was extremely strong.

The Digger retails for $10.

"The thing to remember is the $10.00 that CA lists is the MSRP. Almost every state has a tobacco tax of some sort. In NY these are over $14.00 where in CT they would be $10.50 and NJ around $12.00" —December 10, 2011 19:50 PM

"Could someone please tell me how the prices for the cigars you preview are figured and where can i buy cigars at these prices?...i frequent quite a few shops and find the single cigar prices to be much higher." —September 3, 2011 15:13 PM
