Tatuaje, one of the hottest boutique cigar brands in the United States, has retailers seeing red -- and white. With Miami's El Rey de Los Habanos factory having opened a facility in Nicaragua, the brand now offers the Nicaraguan Tatuaje Havana VI, which comes with a red band, rather then a brown band, to distinguish it from the Miami-made variety.
The Havana VI blend is slightly milder then the original Tatuaje brown label, but, according to brand owner Pete Johnson, uses the same quality Nicaraguan tobacco and is being sold at a much lower price. The white label, named Serie P, is even less expensive and contains a mixture of long- and short-filler tobacco.
