TAA Postpones 52nd Annual Convention Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

Due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) global outbreak, the Tobacconists Association of America announced it has postponed its 52nd annual meeting and convention, which was scheduled to take place March 22 to 29 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

According to a statement from the TAA, the organization is working with the host hotel, the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, to reschedule the event for either late September or early October 2020.

The TAA consists of 77 retailers and accounts for nearly 240 stores across the United States. Each year, some of the biggest brands in the handmade cigar industry produce special cigars that are only sold through the retail shops of the organization’s members.

As of right now, the TAA is not certain how the postponement will affect the exclusive cigars.

“We do not have an update at this time for these products,” Scott Regina, TAA president, told Cigar Aficionado. “As you can imagine, we are working through a lot right now. We hope to have an update for you in the coming weeks.”
