Stronger La Aroma Makes Market Debut
La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Reserva, a stronger, darker version of the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor brand, has reached retailer shelves. The smokes are rolled for Ashton Distributors Inc. of Philadelphia by My Father Cigars, the Nicaraguan company run by the Garcia family.
Described as a "stronger, richer, even more complex and refined version of Mi Amor," by Ashton vice president Sathya Levin, the new brand features a wrapper leaf culled from higher up on the tobacco plant, resulting in stronger and darker tobacco. The wrapper is a Cuban-seed leaf grown in Mexico's lush San Andrés Valley outside of Veracrúz. The filler and binder are all Nicaraguan.
Aroma de Cuba Reserva comes in four sizes, each of them parejos with a slight box press: Beso, 5 5/8 inches long by 48 ring; Maximo, 5 1/2 by 54; Divino, 6 1/4 by 52, and Romantico, 6 7/8 by 50. The cigars retail for $8.50 to $9.95 per cigar.
The new cigar has a big act to follow: the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor Belicoso is Cigar Aficionado's No. 2 cigar of 2011, and scored a classic 95 points in a blind taste test.
