Smoke Detroit to Host Second Annual Cars & Cigars Charity Event

Smoke Detroit, a Motor City-based philanthropic organization, will host their second annual Cars & Cigars charity event later this month. The event, organized by entrepreneurs and longtime friends Tom Celani and Dario Bergamo, will benefit the Celani Family Foundation and the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation.

"It started off as just a couple of buddies who have been involved in charity events for many years and happen to enjoy a fine cigar," said Bergamo, who was inspired to host the event after a visit to the Cigar Family school in the Dominican Republic. "Tom and I feel that cigars have a way of bringing people together, especially when it's for a good cause."

The Cars & Cigars event will bring vintage Ford, GM and Chrysler automobiles to the Freedom Hill Amphitheater outside Detroit, where attendees will be invited to peruse the classic cars while enjoying wine from Celani Family Vineyards and Arturo Fuente cigars.

The portion of the proceeds donated to the Celani Family Foundation will benefit Detroit-area soup kitchens and food banks. Money raised for the CFCF, a charity started by the Fuente and the Newman cigar families, will help provide education and healthcare to underprivileged communities in the Dominican Republic.

Bergamo met Carlos Fuente Jr. at Cigar Aficionado's Big Smoke Detroit in 1998—they joined forces last year for the first annual Cars & Cigars event, which raised approximately $485,000.

The entertainment for this year's event will celebrate the music of Frank Sinatra with performances by the Simone Viatle Orchestra, Mark Randisi with The Motor City Horns, and renowned trumpeter Johnny Trudell. Also on the bill is guitarist Michele Ramo who is set to perform an original song entitled "Casa Fuente," dedicated to the event's honorees, Carlos Fuente Sr. and Carlos Fuente Jr.

A live-auction will feature several luxurious items including a Harley Davidson motorcycle with a custom Fuente Fuente Forbidden X paintjob, a limited-edition humidor filled with rare vintage Fuente Aged Selection cigars, and tickets to Cigar Aficionado's Big Smoke Las Vegas and New York events.

Smoke Detroit's Cars & Cigars event will take place on the evening of June 11. For more information visit smokedetroit.com.
