Shaggy Gurkhas Ship to Shops

Beach Cigar Group has just shipped its second batch of Gurkha Estate Select Reserve and Estate Select Vintage Shaggy cigars to retailers across the United States.

The unbanded Estate Select Reserve is offered in three shapes: the Imperial Perfecto, a 6 inch by 60 ring gauge figurado that retails for $8.80; the Royal Rothschild, which measures 6 by 64 and sells for $6.80; and the Prince, a 5 by 52 robusto that goes for $6.40. They come packaged in wood boxes of 25 or 100 cigars.

According to Kaizad Hansotia, CEO of Beach Cigar, the Estate Select Reserve owes its flavor profile to its aged tobaccos, including a Dominican wrapper and some Peruvian filler that Hansotia added for spiciness.

"The large ring gauges of these cigars, especially the Imperial Perfecto, means they deliver an abundance of smoke," he said.

The Gurkha Estate Select Vintage Shaggy is also packaged in rustic wood boxes of 25 or 100. It gets its name from the "shaggy" filler tobacco leaves protruding from the cigar's uncut foot.

The Shaggy is available in a 6 by 50 Toro for a $7.20 suggested retail price, a 7 by 52 Churchill for $7.60 and a 6 1/2 by 53 Torpedo for $8.40. Like the Estate Select Reserve, the Shaggy sports a Dominican wrapper. The binder and filler are also Dominican. The boxes are fashioned with basket-weave lids and packed with shredded tobacco, or picadura.
