Senate Confirms Hahn as New FDA Head

The Senate today confirmed by a vote of 72 to 18 that Dr. Stephen Hahn will be the new commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the agency that oversees cigar regulation.
Nominated by President Trump last month, Hahn will be the first official FDA commissioner since Dr. Scott Gottlieb resigned earlier this year. Dr. Norman Sharpless has been serving as acting director of the FDA since April.
This is Hahn’s first government position in 25 years.
