Altadis U.S.A. Inc.'s Romeo y Julieta brands have grown over the past few weeks, first with the launch of Romeo Añejo by Romeo y Julieta—a vintage specific, aged version of its Romeo by Romeo y Julieta line—and now the addition of a Corona to the RyJ by Romeo y Julieta series.
Unlike Altadis's traditional Romeo y Julieta line, which is made in the Dominican Republic, RyJ is a Nicaraguan puro crafted at La Flor de Copan in Honduras. The brand, which debuted in 2013, is made with a Corojo-seed wrapper from Jalapa, two binders from Jalapa and Estelí, and a filler blend of vintage 2010 leaves from Jalapa and Estelí.
The new corona size, which measures 5 1/2 inches by 44 ring gauge, is the fourth vitola in the line. It has a suggested retail price of $8.00 per cigar and ships in golden colored boxes of 20, emblazoned with the words "New Release Gold Edition." The traditional boxes that Piramide, Bully Grande and Toro ship in are predominantly white with gold lettering.
Boxes of the RyJ by Romeo y Julieta Corona are currently on store shelves.
