Room101 Brings Back Giant 70 Ring Gauge Cigar

It disappeared for a while, but Room101 has brought back The Big Payback 70, an enormous cigar that measures 7 inches long by 70 ring gauge wide. The huge smoke was introduced in 2014 by the brand’s previous owner Matt Booth, but has not been in production since 2016. Now owned by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, the gigantic cigar will start shipping to retailers on the first of June.
The Big Payback 70 consists of an Olancho San Agustin cover leaf from Honduras, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and a mix of filler from Nicaragua, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. According to the company, the cigars are medium-to-full in body.
While inflation is on the rise in the cigar industry, the massive new cigars are fairly affordable at a suggested retail price of $8.99 each, before taxes. The cigar stays true to its original mission to “repay” customers with a large cigar at a value price point. It ships in red and gold boxes of 30.
The Big Payback 70 is made at the HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras, by STG, which acquired Room101 last year. Booth serves as creative director.
All Room101 brands are now being distributed through Forged Cigar Co., a subsidiary of STG that handles handmade brands such as Diesel, La Gloria Cubana and Bolivar Cofradia.
