Cigarmaker Hamlet Paredes is adding his signature shape to one of his eponymous cigar brands. This month, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars will begin shipping the Hamlet 25th Year Salomon, a new size in Paredes’ medium-bodied line of cigars.
“The Salomon shape has always been my signature shape to roll,” Paredes said, in a press release. “I already have a Salomon for my Tabaquero cigar brand. And it’s always been very popular.”
A Salomon is a very large figurado with a pointed, tapered head and bulbous feet with a nipple tip. Due to its many curves and large size, it is among the hardest cigars in the world to roll, requiring a lot of skill and time.
Hamlet 25th Year wears an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper, Pennsylvania broadleaf binder, and filler from Nicaragua and Honduras. All of the sizes, including the new Salomon, are produced at at TaviCusa, Rocky Patel's cigar factory in Nicaragua.
Hamlet Paredes, once an ambassador for Habanos S.A. and one of Cuba’s star cigar rollers, began making cigars for Rocky Patel in 2015. His debut blend, Tabaquero Hamlet Paredes, was released that same year. In 2017, Paredes created a milder cigar line called Hamlet 25th Year, which celebrated his quarter century in the cigar business. Most recently, Paredes released Liberation by Hamlet, which debuted this year at the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers trade show in Las Vegas.
The Hamlet 25th Year Salomon comes packaged in 10-count boxes and will retail for $11 per cigar.
