After being canceled by the pandemic this year, the Dominican Republic’s ProCigar Festival will be returning in 2022. Normally held in February, it’s one of the three major cigar festivals of the premium industry, bringing the island nation’s handmade smokes, music and culture to every guest in a relaxed, casual setting.
For cigar enthusiasts, it’s one of the top events of the year where cigarmakers in the Dominican Republic open their factories to the public for up-close insight as to how some of the major Dominican cigars are manufactured. The festival format is quite simple: there are cigar factory and tobacco field trips by day and lively gala cigar dinners by night. Part party, part education, it’s a hospitable affair where the cigars are plentiful and the cigarmakers are not only present, but approachable.
The ProCigar Festival will take place from February 22 to 25 in 2022. Unlike previous festivals, the event is a bit shorter and will not start out in La Romana, but will commence in Santiago.
