Plasencia Cigars Embeds Smart Chip Technology In Cigar Bands
A distinctly pressed smoke from Plasencia has gone digitally interactive. Anyone who lights up an Alma Fuerte Sixto I Colorado Claro can find out more information about this six-sided smoke by putting their smart phone up against the cigar band and tapping an embedded smart chip.
Similar to a QR code, the smart chip will not only authenticate the cigar, but will then open a webpage on your phone (iPhone 10 or above, and all Androids), offering high-resolution photos, blend information, tasting notes and even videos meant to educate consumers about the Plasencia family’s long history in tobacco. The chip will also give smokers an opportunity to provide feedback on the smoke.
The encrypted smart chip was created in collaboration with tech company LegacySecure Inc. and is only offered on the Alma Fuerte Sixto I Colorado Claro.
If you already have some of these hexagonally pressed smokes, don’t bother trying to tap your phone on those bands. Cigars with smart chip labels won’t be shipping until late June.
