Outdoor Ashtrays

Summer means warmer temperatures that invite enjoying your cigars outdoors. But other elements of alfresco smoking will wreak havoc on your delicate indoor smoking gear: the wind, the rain and the lummox who kicks over a flimsy end table. On patio, porch or at poolside, you need outdoor ashtrays.
Good outdoor ashtrays are made of hardy materials that won’t shatter or break. The Boca Grande ashtrays (left, above) from Craftsman’s Bench are durable, yet stylish with a tobacco-leaf design made out of strong polyresin. They come in three color options: Natural, Maduro (pictured here) and Sungrown. Both the Natural and Maduro versions feature two cigar holders and share the same measurements: 11 5/8 inches long by 6 3/8 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches tall. The Sungrown variety is larger (11 1/2 inches long by 12 1/4 inches wide by 12 1/2 inches tall) and seats six cigars. The Natural and Maduro are priced at $33.95, the Sungrown at $44.95.
The Stinky Cigar Box Pressed Designer Series (right, above) targets the nuisance of wind gusts with its deep bowl that helps keep ashes in place on breezy days. The Box Pressed Designer Series comes in 14 finishes (pictured here in Old Patina) and has four cigar rests. It measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter by 6 1/2 inches tall. Prices range from $49.95 to $74.95, depending on the finish.
Ash-Stay (center, above) takes wind resistance to the next level. Its three cigar holders function as openings that lead to an ash-catching inner chamber. Rotating the top portion of the ashtray closes the openings, preventing ashes and cigar ends from blowing away in the wind. When closed, the ashtray helps trap odors, too. Measuring 8 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall, Ash-Stay is constructed of melamine, which is easy to clean and dishwasher safe. It comes in three different colors: Coffee (pictured here), Gun Metal and White. All three versions are priced at $39.
