New E.P. Carrillo Blend Determined By Consumer Vote

At last year’s PCA trade show, Dominican cigarmaker E.P. Carrillo displayed a trio of mystery cigars—each made with a different blend—called Platinum Bash for consumers to smoke blind. Inside the box was a QR code directing consumers to a website where they could vote on which they enjoyed the most. Now the votes have been tallied and the winner will be released as a limited-edition cigar, which will ship to retail markets in late April.
The winning blend is made with a Mexican wrapper, Ecuador binder and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. In the original box, it was the one cloaked with a platinum ribbon on its foot (the others were red and gold). It’s a toro size, 6 inches long by 52 ring gauge, and production will be limited to 500 boxes of 10, which (naturally) are platinum in color. The cigars will have a suggested retail price of $15 each.
Platinum Bash was released in celebration of brand owner Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s 70th birthday, which took place November 17, 2021, but the cigars were delayed due to complications arising from the pandemic.
