Name Change—Puros Indios Returns

Reyes Family Cigars has changed its name. Again.

The makers of Puros Indios and Cuba Aliados cigars, which originally did business under the name Cuba Aliados, then changed its name to Reyes Family Cigars in November 2007, has switched once again. The company, which is headquartered in Miami and makes cigars in Honduras, is now known by its two main brands: Puros Indios/Cuba Aliados.

The name change (which has yet to be reflected on the company's website) comes with other changes for the company. New packaging for its core Cuba Aliados line, which harkens to the original look of the brand, with some updated detail. The company has also cut prices. "We lowered all of our prices," said president Carlos Diez, "Almost $1 off most sizes. We want to offer guys value."

Changing course is hardly new to the Cuba Aliados clan—the company has been making cigars in Honduras for 20 years now, under the watchful eye of Rolando Reyes Sr., and has always eschewed the local tobaccos. Earlier this year it began growing tobacco in Honduras for the first time, planting some 50 acres of tobacco. Puros/Indios Cuba Aliados also makes cigars in Miami.
