My Favorite Cigar

Edwin Lee Gibson • Actor
Romeo y Julieta 1875 Connecticut Nicaragua
Having just picked up his old golf clubs in his hometown of Houston, Edwin Lee Gibson says, “I hope I won’t have time to play.” Gibson is a cast member of Hulu’s hit show “The Bear,” playing Ebraheim, whose job it is to make the Italian beef for the struggling restaurant.
In the second episode, Ebraheim smokes a Honduran Baccarat Churchill. The show’s bosses thought Ebraheim should smoke more cigars. They asked Gibson what to get. Gibson’s answer was Ashton Sovereigns, a pricier option. No fool, this Gibson fellow.
His favorite cigar is the Romeo y Julieta 1875 Connecticut Nicaragua, which he often pairs with a single-malt. “I’ve also recently been smoking some Cuban Cohibas,” Gibson shares.
Gibson has appeared in Showtime’s “Shameless,” and in FX’s “Fargo.” Working since he was 16 years old, he has performed in 103 theater productions all over the world, winning an O.B.I.E. award in 2006. He also writes.
“I sit down with a cigar,” Gibson says. “I may get to the writing, but I will get to the cigar.”
