Alex Rodriguez • Baseball Superstar Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona Alex Rodriguez called his Louisville Slugger C271L bat his “money maker.” No argument there: A-Rod raked in more than $441 million across his 22-year career. It’s notable that his 34-inch, 32-ounce, black-lacquered club is also decidedly small for a home-run hitter. Compare it with Babe Ruth’s 36-inch, 46-ounce bat, which he called “Black Betsy.” Or take the 36-inch, 41.5-ounce model used by Lou Gehrig. Rodriguez has said that a small bat was suitable for his big hands, but when it comes to cigars the New York native prefers them big, namely the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona. The …
