My Favorite Cigar

Actor Jim Belushi, whose career has taken him from the improv stage to “Saturday Night Live,” movie stardom, Broadway and beyond, is also an enthusiastic fan of cigars.
The brother of the late actor John Belushi has a very distinct favorite, one in which he indulges two or three times a day: La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor, a cigar from Nicaragua.
“As I get older, I like a fuller draw,” Belushi says. “It’s also very flavorful, with no bitterness. It’s right on this side of the line of being bitter—maybe the last half-inch. I tend to smoke them down so that, if I had a cigar roach-clip, I’d use it. And it doesn’t take well to a third lighting—but none of them do.”
These days, Belushi divides his time between acting and farming, as a gentleman cannabis cultivator in Oregon, the focus of his Discovery reality series “Growing Belushi.” As he told New York magazine, a few years ago “I did some ayahuasca in Peru and had a trajectory change . . . Following this plant has brought me where I’m supposed to be.”
Does Belushi indulge in cannabis and cigars at the same time? “Absolutely,” he says. “Cigars and cannabis are like brother and sister.”
