A limited size of Florida Sun Grown, made with tobacco grown in Florida by Orlando cigar retailer-turned-grower Jeff Borysiewicz, is heading to cigar stores now.
Rolled and distributed by Drew Estate in Nicaragua, the Florida Sun Grown Limited Edition Trunk Press Toro measures 6 inches by 54 ring gauge. The cigar is sharply pressed, comes in 10-count boxes and carries a suggested retail price of $15.80.
The special Toro differs from other Florida Sun Grown sizes. It’s covered in Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, and on the inside it has a Mexican binder, with filler that includes one full leaf of Florida Corojo ‘99 along with tobaccos from Nicaragua and Honduras. The four regular-production sizes of Florida Sun Grown are rolled with Brazilian wrappers, Honduran binders and filler tobaccos from both Nicaragua and Florida.
Florida was once a major producer of cigar tobacco, but today Borysiewicz’s Florida Sun Grown farm in Clermont is the only cigar tobacco farm in the state. The Florida tobacco contained in this limited-edition Toro was harvested from his Spring 2014 crop. The first version of the limited-edition Toro, released in 2016, used both Corojo '99 and Criollo '98 from his original 2013 crop, but those tobaccos are no longer available, said Borysiewicz. The original limited Toro scored 86 points in a July 2018 Cigar Insider tasting.
The limited Toro is only available at Drew Diplomat retailers. You can find your nearest Drew Diplomat retailer through Drew Estate’s store locator tool.
