The J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has kicked off its nationwide La Unica North American tour to promote the new La Unica No. 600, a 6 inch by 50 ring gauge cigar, as well as the new La Unica Cedar Cabinet Collection, which is the new name given to La Unica cigars now that they have upgraded from bundle to box presentation.
La Unica has been a bundled cigar since its release in 1986. To celebrate La Unica's 20-year anniversary, company president Eric Newman updated the brand's image by packaging the brand in wood boxes. He also introduced the No. 600, the first new size since the brand's creation. Although the brand is now being designated as the La Unica Cedar Cabinet Collection, the blend is still the same.
The tour started at a cigar shop in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 24, and will continue across the country until July 19. Cigar enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sample the new La Unica No. 600.
"Some of the best smoke shops in America were nominated to hold these exclusive events to promote La Unica and introduce these cigars to a new audience," said Newman. "Our first event was a huge success, with a sellout crowd."
With the No. 600, La Unica now has six sizes in its portfolio. Made by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in the Dominican Republic, the brand is made with Dominican binders and filler tobacco, and comes in two versions. The natural is wrapped in Connecticut shade, the maduro in Connecticut broadleaf.
