The popular boutique brand La Flor Dominicana is getting a makeover. The company is changing its cigar bands, beginning with the ones on the La Flor Dominicana Ligero line.
The new-look La Flor Ligeros (in both natural wrapper and Oscuro Natural) arrived at cigar shops the week of October 20.
The old bands had a close-up view of a tobacco flower in full bloom, viewed from above, with purple and white highlights and green tobacco leaves surrounding the flower. The new bands have the letters "LFD" in gold scripted type on a dark burgundy background.
"We redesigned the band to give it a new look," said La Flor cigarmaker Litto Gomez, who co-owns the brand with his wife, Ines Lorenzo-Gomez. "Pretty much we eliminated the flower and substituted the LFD. It's pretty much what people call La Flor these days."
Gomez said the remainder of his brands will sport the new bands in 2009.
