IPCPR Changing Name, Rebranding Organization

IPCPR Changing Name, Rebranding Organization
The new name for the association will be announced on June 28.

Nine days before its annual trade show, which brings the lion’s share of the premium cigar industry together under one roof, the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers association announced that it’s rebranding the organization and making other changes.

The IPCPR did not reveal the new name of the organization, saying it wanted to conceal that information until Friday, June 28, when the trade show begins at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas.

“We need to rebrand, complete with a new name and a new logo,” said Scott Pearce, executive director of the IPCPR. The goal, he said, was to "modernize the association and create value, not just during the trade show, but 365 days a year…. and a strong, united voice for the premium [cigar] category.”

This will mark the second time the association has changed names. It was founded in 1933 as the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America (or RTDA) until it changed names in 2007.

Headquartered in Washington D.C., IPCPR has roughly 2,500 shops as members.
