HVC Cigars is adding two new limited-edition sizes to its 500th Anniversary line: Selectos and Shorts. Originally released as a single size last year, 500th Anniversary was created by HVC owner Reinier Lorenzo to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the founding of his birthplace, Cuba.
"For me the cigar is about remembering where we come from," Lorenzo told Cigar Aficionado.
Shipping May 20 in 15-count boxes, Selectos measures 5 5/8 inches by 46 ring gauge. The cigars are made in Nicaragua at the Aganorsa Leaf factory and are composed of only Nicaraguan tobacco: a Corojo ’99 wrapper, Corojo ’99 binder and Criollo ’98 and Corojo ’99 filler. Production of the Selectos is limited to only 350 boxes and will be available at select retailers. According to Lorenzo, the cigars have been aging for three months at the factory.
The second size, Shorts, measuring 4 1/2 by 52, will be a Privada Cigar Club exclusive and features the same blend. Shorts will ship on June 8, and are slated to retail for around $10 each. Production is limited to only 450 boxes.
