H. Upmann Legacy Features Tobacco from 2008 Crop

Next month, Altadis U.S.A. Inc will be releasing a new, bolder version of the storied H. Upmann brand called H. Upmann Legacy, a three-size line that features a dark Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper and tobacco from a 2008 crop.
Of the now seven different H. Upmann brands that Altadis counts in its portfolio, the Legacy is the first to use an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper. Vintage dates for tobaccos are also unusual for Altadis, but the company was not only looking to add a full-bodied blend to the H. Upmann line, but one that also has unique character.
“We pulled out all of the stops in creating and blending this new H. Upmann Legacy,” said Javier Estades, general manager of premium cigars, USA, for Imperial Tobacco PLC, which owns Altadis. “It is a modern reinvention of a classic brand which offers a great, full and rich smoke that really epitomizes the new trend in cigar luxury.”
The H. Upmann Legacy is part of Altadis’s recent thrust to revamp some of its classic brands. Last year, the H. Upmann 1844 Reserve, for example, was re-blended so successfully that the Belicoso ended up taking the number 15 spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of 2012.
