The famous Fuente Fuente OpusX brand turns 25 years old next year, and to jump start the celebration maker Arturo Fuente Cigars has teamed up with S.T. Dupont to create a line of accessories scheduled to launch on November 1.
The premiere cigar line in the sizeable Arturo Fuente portfolio, Fuente Fuente OpusX revolutionized the industry when it debuted in 1995 because it debunked the notion that wrapper-quality tobacco couldn’t be grown in the Dominican Republic. Since its release, Fuente Fuente OpusX has garnered high praise from fans and Cigar Aficionado alike, with numerous scores of 90-points or higher plus the fact that a Fuente Fuente OpusX has landed on the Top 25 Cigars of the Year list eight times. The brand’s Double Corona was named Cigar of the Year in 2005.
To celebrate the anniversary, the Fuente family has partnered with S.T. Dupont on a new 25th OpusX anniversary collection that includes two Ligne 2 lighters, a Maxijet lighter and cutter. Each was designed by Manny Iriarte, the longtime designer for the Fuentes, and was shown off recently at the InterTabac tobacco trade show in Germany. (Fuente also worked with S.T. Dupont to celebrate its 20th anniversary.)
The Ligne 2 Fuente Lacquer ($2,350) is finished in a predominantly black and green, and prominently displays the OpusX logo on the back, with the words “Opus 25” in rose gold and green on the front. The borders are finished in pink gold.
The other traditional lighter in the collection is a Ligne 2 Fuente Goldsmith. Finished entirely in patterned rose gold with pink gold touches, the words “Opus 25” are engraved onto the back while the 25th anniversary logo is on the front. The Goldsmith is set to retail for $1,894.
Rounding out the collection are the more affordable Maxijet Fuente lighter and cutter, which are priced at $264 and $212, respectively. Both are mainly black, with a green OpusX logo on one side and the words “Opus 25” on the other.
The celebratory collection is individually numbered and the Ligne 2 lighters come in black, lacquered box lined with black suede inside.
