Fratello Cigars is releasing the third installment of its limited-edition DMV Series, the DMV Maduro Selection, and it is shipping next month.
First introduced in 2018, the DMV Series was created by brand owner Omar de Frias as a tribute to Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware, the areas that retailers first began carrying his cigars. Originally a single blend with a different size assigned to each state (although D.C. is technically a district), the line expanded to four different blends in 2019, one for each region.
In mid-November, the DMV Maduro Selection will be available to all the aforementioned areas in a 12-count sampler containing three cigars from each of the four blends.
“The DMV Series is one that is special to me, and I want each year to be unique and exciting,” said de Frias. “We decided that by including all four blends in one sampler, those that want to enjoy all four won’t miss out because of the state they’re in.”
The four blends of the DMV Maduro Selection come in one size—a 6 inch by 50 ring gauge toro—and the set will retail for $132, or $11 per cigar.
Limited to a production run of only 600 boxes, the cigars are made at the Joya de Nicaragua factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The last two releases were made at the La Aurora factory in the Dominican Republic.
While all four blends are made with the same binder and filler, each has a different maduro wrapper, but de Frias is not disclosing any more details about the tobacco.
