Espinosa’s Las 6 Provincias Alludes To An Older Time
Espinosa Cigars is paying homage to Old Havana, but they’re not doing it by resurrecting an old Cuban brand. The new cigar, Las 6 Provincias, is named after Cuba’s six provinces before the Castro regime rezoned the country to its present-day 15 provinces.
It comes in one size, a box-pressed cigar measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge made in Nicaragua by A.J. Fernandez. Espinosa is offering the cigar in 10-count boxes, but also created 300 limited-edition 20-count “swing boxes” that are mounted on a hinge and designed to look like a swing. Both boxes have art reminiscent of Old Havana.
The blend contains Nicaraguan tobacco from the Estelí, Ometepe and Condega growing regions. Each cigar has a suggested retail price of $16.50.
The concept was developed by Erik Espinosa’s son (also named Erik), who wanted to honor his Cuban grandfather as well as pre-Castro Cuba.
Las 6 Provincias were introduced at the IPCPR trade show and are shipping now.
