EPC To Release TAA Exclusive In La Historia Line

The Godfather of thick cigars is once again living up to his name. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, owner of EPC Cigar Co., will be releasing a heavy ring-gauge cigar just for members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America, and it’s a pretty big smoke.
Called the La Historia TAA 656, the upcoming cigar measures 6 inches long by 56 ring gauge. While this isn’t as large as some of Perez-Carrillo’s other cigars, it’s still quite a hefty size.
“The 56 ring gauge is one of my favorite sizes,” Perez-Carrillo said. “It adds a whole new dimension to the La Historia blend and brings out the type of complexity and flavors I look for in a cigar.”
La Historias are made in the Dominican Republic at Perez-Carrillo’s La Alianza factory. The cigars consist of a dark, Mexican wrapper, Ecuadoran binder and Nicaraguan filler. The La Historia E-III, which measures 6 7/8 by 54, was named No. 2 Cigar of 2014 by Cigar Aficionado, with a score of 95 points. (Perez-Carrillo’s Encore Majestic is the reigning Cigar of the Year.)
Slated for a May release, the TAA 656 will retail for $11.50 per smoke and come in 10-count boxes.
TAA exclusives such as this one are made especially for retailers who are part of the Tobacconists’ Association of America.
