Veteran cigarmaker and Cigar Aficionado Hall of Famer Ernesto Perez-Carrillo has made a limited-edition cigar exclusively for retail members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America, and the cigar started shipping to retailers starting last week.
Made in the Dominican Republic at the La Alianza factory, the E.P. Carrillo TAA 2021 Toro measures 6 inches by 52 ring gauge and is composed almost entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco, save for a bit of Brazilian leaf in the filler.
“I made this cigar using Brazil Mata Fina, a tobacco I hadn't used since my early days in Miami,” Perez-Carrillo says.
According to the company, the E.P. Carrillo TAA 2021 Toro is medium to full in body.
Shipping in plain wooden boxes of 10, the Toros have a suggested retail price of $9.50 each. Only 1,000 boxes have been produced.
The TAA trade show is scheduled to take place October 24 to 28 of this year.
