The Cuban Quai d’Orsay Senadores Edición Limitada for 2019 is coming to France in style. Slated for September 12, Quai d’Orsay’s premiere party will be held in Paris on a yacht set to sail along the Seine River. The cigar cruise departs from Port Henri IV at 8:15 pm.
The new Quai d’Orsay Senadores was previewed earlier this year at the Habanos Festival, marking the first time that a Quai d’Orsay has been released as an Edición Limitada. Packaged in 25-count boxes, the cigar measures 6 1/8 inches by 48 ring gauge and will retail for 19.80 euro ($22) once it’s available at French retailers.
It should come as no surprise that France will be the first market to get this new Edición Limitada. The Cuban brand was released in 1974 exclusively for France with a bit of distribution in Switzerland.
Over the next few decades, most of the original Quai d’Orsay sizes were discontinued, and the brand seemed destined for deletion until 2017, when Habanos S.A. announced that Quai d’Orsay was being transitioned into a global brand. New, larger sizes with glossy, modernized labels were unveiled that same year at the world premiere in Paris. This year marks Quai d'Orsay's 45th anniversary.
One of the newer Quai d’Orsay sizes, the No. 54, was named the No. 11 cigar of 2018 on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 list.
There is no official date as to when the rest of the world will receive the Quai d’Orsay Senadores Edición Limitada 2019, but Habanos did announce that it will arrive “very soon to the world markets,” without any further details.
With the July launch of the Montecristo Supremo in Italy, the Quai d’Orsay Senadores is the second Edición Limitada to come out this year. The world still awaits news on Cuba’s third Edición Limitada for 2019: The Ramon Allones Allones No. 2 belicoso.
