Cuba’s New Le Hoyo de Río Seco Will Launch In Lebanon

The Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de Río Seco will be launched globally in Rmeileh, Lebanon, this Saturday. The fat cigar—a 5 1/2 inch by 56 ring robusto extra—is a regular-production smoke that will initially be available in Casas del Habanos around the world. There are 145 Casas del Habanos in 65 countries.
The cigar is the newest line extension in the Le Hoyo series, which has been a traditional part of the Hoyo de Monterrey brand. In the past, the Le Hoyo range consisted primarily of narrow gauge cigars. But in 2014, the Le Hoyo line was expanded to include thicker gauge cigars with the launch of the Le Hoyo de San Juan, which measures 6 by 54 (89 points). The Rio Seco is another example of Habanos’ desire to bring thicker ring gauge cigars to market.
The cigar also will fit within the overall Hoyo de Monterrey flavor profile, which is considered to be a more medium bodied, mild smoke. Habanos says some of the tobacco used in this cigar comes from the Hoyo de Monterrey farm, which is near San Juan y Martínez in Vuelta Abajo, Cuba’s finest tobacco-producing region.
Walid Saleh, the director of the Phoenicia Trading company, which distributes Cuban cigars in the Middle East, says the launch event will be attended by 650 guests, including 150 from outside of Lebanon. Fernando Domínguez, the premium cigar director of Imperial Brands, and Luís Sánchez-Harguindey, the co-president of Habanos S.A., will be part of the presentation ceremonies, according to Saleh.
Saleh adds that there will be jazz band that will play a special composition for the Rio Seco. A new Trinidad cigar will also be presented during the festivities.
