Swiss cigar company Patoro is preparing to launch its first line of cigars for the U.S. market. The brand is called Serie P USA Edition and is distributed by CLE Cigar Co. The cigars ship to retailers this week.
Patoro has been selling cigars in Europe since 2001 and was founded by Patrick J. Martin. Last year, Dr. Pablo Richard joined Patoro and will spearhead the U.S. launch.
"We will enter the market with one line called Serie P," said Richard. Though there is an existing Serie P line for Europe, the Serie P USA Edition is a different blend. "It goes in the same direction though, and of course we follow the same philosophy in both markets."
The U.S. blend features a Brazilian wrapper, with binder and filler from the Dominican Republic, and comes in four sizes: Corona, 5 1/2 inches by 43 ring gauge ($8.00); Robusto, 5 1/8 by 54 ($10.00); Toro, 6 by 58 ($11.00); and Churchill, 7 by 47 ($12.00). Serie P USA Edition cigars are made at Manafactura Patoro, part of Corporación Cigar Export, S.R.L. in the Dominican Republic.
