Cigars International retail shops like this one in Fort Worth, Texas, will be better served once the company has fully expanded its warehouse capacity.

Business is apparently booming for catalog and online cigar retailer Cigars International. So much so that the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania company has started on a massive expansion that will nearly double the size of its already vast warehouse

“Over the last few years, Cigars International has experienced robust growth, and our trajectory continues to rise,” said Sarah Santos, president and senior vice president of Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s North America online and retail division. “We’re significantly increasing our footprint to keep up with demand and accommodate future growth.”

Ground broke for the project last month, and if all goes according to plan, the company will add 100,000 square feet of space, giving the company a sprawling 213,500 square feet of warehouse space by the fourth quarter of this year. When finished, the facility will enhance its warehousing capabilities, add office space and implement a new racking and conveyance system.

Owned by European tobacco giant Scandinavian Tobacco Group, Cigars International is one of the largest catalog and Internet cigar retailers in the United States. In addition to its online business, the company also has multiple brick-and-mortar locations: three in Pennsylvania, two in Texas and two in Florida.

“We’re seeing economic optimism and discretionary spending surge among Cigars International consumers who are continuing to treat themselves to the pleasures of handmade cigars in a post-pandemic environment,” Santos added.
