Camacho Liberty 2005 Throwback Launching Next Week

Just in time for the Fourth of July holiday, Camacho is adding another cigar to its long-running Liberty Series. The patriotic-themed cigar has been an annual limited-edition release for the past 16 years. The first Camacho Liberty launched in 2002, and this year’s edition is based on the blend of the 2005 release. Called Camacho Liberty 2005 Throwback, the cigar will begin shipping to U.S. retailers next week.
“This year’s release, a throwback of the Liberty 2005 blend, lets us proudly celebrate America’s independence with a cigar perfectly crafted for such an honor,” said Scott Kolesaire, director of marketing at Davidoff of Geneva USA.
Liberty 2005 Throwback is a Honduran puro, rolled with high-priming Corojo filler and binder, topped with a maduro cover leaf. The cigar is launching in a single vitola, a double-tapered figurado format called 11/18—a signature size for Camacho—measuring 6 inches by 54 ring gauge. Liberty 2005 Throwback ships in 20-count boxes adorned with an American flag. Inside the box, each cigar is housed in alternating red-and-white coffins. The cigar has a retail price of $22.
According to the company, because of the rarity of the tobaccos needed to accurately reconstruct the 2005 blend, only 30,000 Throwback cigars will be released for the U.S. market. The cigars start shipping to retailers on June 11.
