Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper Gets New Shape

Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper, the cigar line named No. 7 Cigar of 2020, is getting a new limited-edition size in an unorthodox shape. Instead of being made round, or box-pressed, this new Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper will be pressed in a special mold to create a diamond shape. The Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper Diamond Press will be debuting at the TPE trade show in Las Vegas later this week.
“My father Alan, brother Alec and I have been asked more times than I can count about making a Gatekeeper Diamond,” said Bradley Rubin of Alec Bradley. “We’re humbled to have the opportunity to bring a cigar to market that we already know will be highly coveted.”
Made by the Plasencias at the Tobacos de Oriente factory in Danli, Honduras, the cigar will measure 6 1/4 inches by 54 ring gauge. Shipping in boxes of 16, the cigars have a suggested retail price of $12.75 each. Only 1,500 boxes will be produced.
Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper Diamond Press consists of an Ecuador Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. It’s made with the same blend as the regular-production line, though the percentages of the tobaccos have been tweaked slightly to compensate for the unorthodox shape.
This marks the third instance a cigar from Alec Bradley has gotten the Diamond treatment—the previous releases were the Nica Puro Diamond Rough Cut and Black Market Estelí Diamond Press.
Retailers can expect the Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper Diamond Press to start shipping in late April.
