First shipments of the A.J. Fernandez New World Redondo went out to retailers yesterday. The cigar was made exclusively for retail members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America and represents the first time the box-pressed brand is coming in the round.
Called Redondo, meaning “round” in Spanish, the cigar measures 6 1/2 inches by 55 ring gauge and retails for $8 each. It comes in 20-count boxes and is made with all Nicaraguan tobacco.
Only 1,000 boxes of this limited-edition smoke were produced. Five hundred boxes arrived this week to the company headquarters in Miami. The rest are expected to come next week.
