The Oettinger Davidoff Group had a busy month of October as the company opened two new branded lounges, one in San Antonio, Texas, and the other in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
San Antonio's Club Humidor opened the doors to its new Davidoff lounge on October 18 with a grand party that featured a couple of special guests: Davidoff master blender Henke Kelner and president Jim Young. The lounge, a private, members-only room in the back of Club Humidor, features 600 square feet of smoking luxury in the form of oversized leather chairs, free WiFi, and stylish modern decor that includes a commissioned painting of the San Antonio skyline. The painting was done by artists Mike Baca and Fernando Romero of art collective UR New York, the same duo who designed the street-art packaging for Davidoff's Zino Platinum 10th anniversary cigar, Zino Platinum Ten Toro X.
"It is a privilege to enter into this new phase of our relationship with Davidoff," said Keith Rumbo, who owns Club Humidor with his wife, Tiffany. "Davidoff's lounge team has done an outstanding job of designing and carrying out the Davidoff vision right here in our store. There isn't another cigar lounge of this caliber in the San Antonio area. We are honored by the confidence Davidoff has shown in our company."
Chattanooga-based Burns Tobacconist opened its luxury Davidoff lounge on October 24. The modern decor of this lounge also features a custom sculpture. Richard Krutick, head of marketing for Davidoff, said the company plans to open another Davidoff lounge in Ridgewood, New Jersey, at the Tobacco Shop of Ridgewood, as well as four additional locations in 2014.
Davidoff lounges are a rarity. As of now, aside from Davidoff's flagship stores, there are only three official Davidoff branded lounges attached to third-party tobacconists in the United States, with Humidor of Westmont in Chicago being the other location. In addition to getting a beautiful smoking space, every Davidoff lounge also sells a lounge-exclusive cigar called the Davidoff Lounge. According to Krutick, the blend for this special cigar is all-Dominican, with the wrapper leaf grown in the Yamasá region of the island.
