For the first time in the brand's history, Hoyo de Monterrey comes in a taco size. That's the name given to this double-tapered figurado in Cuban factories. For consumers, it's marketed as the Hoyo de Monterrey Elegantes, a 6 1/4 inch by 47 ring gauge cigar that tapers on both ends.
It was first previewed at last year's Habanos Festival and made an appearance at a cocktail party held on the Port of Havana. The night was dedicated to the Hoyo de Monterrey Reserva, however, attendees received an Elegantes as well. They were meant to be released as the La Casa del Habano exclusive cigar for 2016. Now, a year later, the Elegantes are finally available.
La Casa del Habano is the official network of franchise cigar shops owned by Habanos S.A., which franchises more than 140 Casas worldwide. Each year, Habanos releases cigars created especially for its retail outlets.
Hoyo de Monterrey Elegantes come packaged in boxes of 10. Suggested retail prices vary from country to country depending on local taxes, but they can be had for £21.30 per cigar in London.
