More Master Selections are coming to a cigar shop near you. This week, Davidoff of Geneva started shipping the next two installments of its Master Selection Series to retailers nationwide. The cigars are said to be the personal blends of Eladio Diaz, Davidoff's master blender, which he had crafted in private to celebrate specific years of his birthday.
Davidoff Master Selection Series 2010 is rolled with a wrapper leaf from the Dominican Republic and contains a Mexican San Andrés binder with filler tobacco from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The Master Selection Series 2011 is enrobed in an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper with a Mexican San Andrés binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The 2010 will be sold at Davidoff appointed merchants while 2011 will be available only at Davidoff flagship stores.
The six cigars in the Master Selection Series all share the same size parameters, 6 inches by 52 ring gauge, and are priced at $35.
"[Eladio Diaz's] agreement to release these six very personal and delightful blends that he has been creating to mark his very own birthdays is a treat for Davidoff," said Charles Awad, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Oettinger Davidoff AG.
The first two Davidoff Master Selections (the 2013 and 2016 blends) were formally released into the U.S. market in June. In September, the company is slated to formally release Master Selection Series 2007 and 2008.
The cigars are rolled at the Cigars Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic.
