Ventura Cigar Co.'s intellectually probing Archetype brand is rolling out a second batch of its Drew Estate-produced smokes: Initiation and Axis Mundi. Like all of the cigars that make up the Archetype brand, these smokes were inspired by the works of Dr. Carl Jung and mythographer Joseph Campbell.
"[The cigars] are now shipping again after initial demand outstripped available supply after launch at the 2016 International Premium Cigars and Pipe Retailer trade show," said Ventura's Benjamin Winokur. The blends remain unchanged, but these cigars—which are designated as "Chapter 2"—will receive a much wider release than the first batch of smokes.
"The artwork on Chapter 2 has been updated with improved band artwork, but otherwise remains unchanged," said Winokur. "This marks the first time [Initiation and Axis Mundi] will be available at premium tobacconists nationwide, rather than just select tobacconists, as was the case during the initial launch."
Ventura produced the five Archetype blends at three different factories located in three different countries. Dreamstate and Sage Advice are rolled at Occidental Kelner Cigars, located within the Davidoff facility in the Dominican Republic, while Strange Passage is produced in Honduras at AgroIndustrias Laepe S.A. Only Initiation and Axis Mundi are made at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Nicaragua.
As was previously reported, Initiation is made with all-Nicaraguan binder and filler covered by an Ecuadoran Habano wrapper. It comes in four sizes: Corona, measuring 5 inches by 46 ring gauge; Robusto, 5 by 54; Toro, 6 by 52; and Churchill, 7 by 48. The cigars will retail from $10.25 to $13.
Axis Mundi sports a dark, Ecuadoran Habano wrapper, Indonesian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan filler. It's available in four sizes: Corona, 5 by 46; Robusto, 5 by 54; Toro, 5 by 52; and, Churchill 7 by 48. The line carries a suggested retail price between $10.75 to $14.
The cigars are currently shipping to tobacconists nationwide.
